I know what you’re thinking.

And I’ve been dreading writing this post due to the fact that SO many people got involved on the iPhone vs. Droid vs. Blackberry poll last month. And honestly, guys (and girls) – your insights, suggestions, and warnings were taken into full consideration.

What it came down to was:

Network. After going into the Verizon store, I realized how many “in-network” minutes I use. I was scared to walk away (blame it on the fact that my entire family- all 9 of them- are on Verizon.) AND.. if you know me in real life, you know that I talk a lot.

But, iPhone, don’t you give up yet… you’re still on my multi-gen plan.

So, my first step was to buy a case. Now, unfortunately, gelaskins does not offer droid skins yet (fail) so I found another distributor, SkinIt, and purchased this lovely pink number.

If you’ve never heard of these skins, they’re awesome (AND you can buy one if you have an iPhone, a Droid, BlackBerry, or a non-wireless enabled device too).

Droid. It looks like we’re in it for the long haul. (or at least for another year and a half).

Relief: The New Smartphone has been chosen!!

As promised in my previous post, I will be purchasing an Apple iPhone when my contract with Verizon is over – in January (just a few short months away).

If you’re interested in the final breakdown of the votes, it was a close call throughout the voting process.

Originally, the iPhone was in the lead, but the droid caught up, time after time, and it was tied for quite some time.

I have a few favorite lines from my expert commenters:

Myrna: “many of my fellow bloggers were effectively tweeting and live-blogging on the Iphones in a way I could NOT on my Blackberry. I don’t think it would have been worth it before the 3G..but now, it’s been great.” [thanks Myrna for looking out for us bloggers! this is great advice]

Will K: “Disclosure: My bias is that I want to have you waiting in line with me to get the new iPhone come summer time.” [fellow disclosure: lets do it!]

George Smith: “I’m tweeting, foursquaring, flickring – all the time. That’s why the battery stinks. I use my phone. When I had a blackberry, outside of checking mail or texting, I wouldn’t use it.” [My blackberry battery lasts forever. But I want more from it!]

He said that he’s been with Motorola for a little over 3 years… and never – until now – could he actually tell people “go get a Motorola phone”.”

HOW DO I DECIDE? HELP ME BY VOTING!

I have a life problem: It’s time to upgrade.

The lanesberry (bb 8830 world edition) has been a good, standard phone of the smartphone variety for two years. But it’s time to try something new.

NOW. the issue is this. I have been holding out for an iPhone (see countdown clock on right hand side of blog) but now with the droid phones entering the market, I’m having second thoughts.

Am I ready for that level of commitment to either platform? Can I leave my BlackBerry comfort zone?

These are hard questions that must be answered. I’m going to be honest – I am really feeling the ‘droid after seeing the coverage on engadget.

“the DROID is very much the ultimate phone for phone geeks” – engadget

“I think the DROID is the best phone on the market that isn’t the iPhone” -engadget

“it will make a lot of serious geeks seriously happy — and that’s good enough for us.” -engadget

But these quotes don’t change the fact that I don’t know which one to buy. I need YOUR HELP.

Humm... How much longer for an iPhone!?

Yes, I’m one of those. 

[people who are counting down to the true end of their cellular phone contract]

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved my lanesberry (blackberry 8830 world edition)- she’s been good to me. But, it’s a fact of life. Sometimes something good must move aside for something that could be much better. 

It’s so easy to give in and renew your contract with a new phone model (in my case the blackberry tour)… but if I can last the full 90-something days until my contract is up… well… I’m up for doing something crazy (crazier than buying the iPhone, which actually isn’t crazy at all).

I’ll be taking ideas. It can be a blogger/reader bet, even.

You know it, buying things for your iPod never really gets old. So, I’ve found a few new accessories that are a bit more than the iPod sock case or a car transmitter.

Multiple people have created lists on Amazon to help get others “set up” with the good stuff via Amazon. This guy has a guide for those on a budget, and this guy who would like to help you “get started” with a video iPod.

Angel/Devil headphones... because you know they're always influencing you anyway.

There will always be some weird stuff out there for gadgets- take the Top 10 Strangest iPod accessories- including the iPod boxers, iPod thong, iPod wallet, and just more strange things, like the iBreath breathalyzer, that will recommend music based on your BAC.

On the more pratical side…. Music in the bathroom is awesome. However, finding waterproof speaker docks isn’t always so awesome. I found the coolest raindrop shaped speaker via Gizmine- and it comes in multiple colors. But the best part about it is that your iPod is housed safely inside. Here’s another example from Pioneer.

As mentioned before, expressing yourself via your iPod accessories is really the only way to go these days. My roommate sent me these angel/devil headphones (variety of colors) because she knew that I fight with these two on a daily basis…
