As a recovering fan of eBay for unique finds, I have recently turned to Etsy to fulfill that shopping void.
I’m not sure what it is – maybe it’s the classier UI or my happiness with past transactions, but I feel more comfortable and less critical of items listed on Etsy vs eBay.
The trust is there.
Last week, while getting ready, I realized that my black clutch situation needs an upgrade – and I turned to Etsy to search for some options, and compared my findings with eBay to check prices, quality, and selection.
I also have a hard time visiting vintage stores – the dust really gets to me – so yes, although I live in NYC, I hit the interwebs for some vintage options.
MY FINDINGS ON THE SUBJECT
ETSY — Searching for “vintage black clutch” and “50′s black clutch” resulted in a large number of options – all with good photos from multiple angles, descriptions, and dimensions. It was hard to choose, and prices were all across the board.
More of a boutique feel.
EBAY — There were also a lot of items, but the selection quality was lower – more damaged and not-so-good looking options. Sure, there are some cheap prices, but I don’t think the commitment to style is to the level of Etsy.
Do I think there are some solid choices on Ebay? Sure! But do I have time to search through all of the crap to find a good one?
