My Magellan Maestro 4040 I got in Dec. 2007 has been invaluable since my move to D.C.
I hope you enjoy your choice! I don't know if my GPS has made me better with directions or so dependent that I'm actually worse! haha.

Add a traffic subscription if you can. It stinks setting out for a long trip and getting stuck in traffic that delays you getting to your destination for hours. I have it on my Garmin and its only $60/year (came with a 90 day free trial). Even if you don't set a specific destination but frequent heavily traveled roads, as long as you keep your Nuvi turned on it will alert you to traffic issues ahead.
